Love Eiders. We have a stronghold for nesting on the Farn Islands of the North West coast of England. They are ‘protected’ fby a large colony of Terns that also nest there. What I admire is their bravery. As there is no fresh water on the island the young chicks are pushed of the island into the North Sea to swim to shore to get to fresh water. Currents strong, often stormy and Seals abound. But survive they do and make a great site. But as we know the Males have headed off elsewhere before the tough part of bringing up the chicks start.
